KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Danielle Gould scored two goals to lead Kutztown University to a 4-0 win over Shepherd in women's soccer action at Kutztown on Tuesday afternoon in the season opener for both schools.
The Golden Bears took a 1-0 lead with 34:20 left in the first half when Angelic Ostrander scored on a feed from Lindsey Will. Gould gave Kutztown a 2-0 advantage with an unassisted goal with 18:47 left in the half.
Gould opened the scoring in the second half when she headed a crossing pass from Jill Kehan into the net at the 38:42 mark. Lauren Tatro completed the scoring with an unassisted tally at the 32:34 mark.
Amy Ridgely recorded nine saves in goal for the Rams, while Joy Wallace had six saves for the Golden Bears.
Shepherd falls to 0-1 on the year, while Kutztown improves to 1-0.
The Rams return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Frostburg State for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
