CONCORD EDGES SHEPHERD

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. --Jenny Cleland's goal at the 84:20 mark on a free kick lifted Concord University to a 2-1 win over Shepherd University in women's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Saturday.

Freshman forward Jennifer Corkran (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point HS) scored on a feed from sophomore midfielder Courtney McCauley (Charles Town, WV/Jefferson HS) at the 20:30 mark to give Shepherd a 1-0 lead.

Alison Sanders scored an unassisted goal for Concord at the 78:50 mark to tie the game at 1-1 and set the stage for Cleland's game-winner.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) had eight saves, while Sarah Coelho had three saves in goal for the Lady Lions.

Shepherd drops to 1-6-1 on the year, 0-2-0 in conference play while Concord improves to 3-7-0, 2-0-0.. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Columbia Union for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
