SHEPHERD BLANKS CARLOW FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University used a balanced attack en route to a 7-0 win over Carlow University in women's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Sunday. Freshman forward Jennifer Corkran (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point HS) scored a goal and assisted another, while sophomore midfielder Brittany Sweeney (Rockville, MD/Magruder HS) had a pair of assists to lead the Rams. Senior forward Ashley Gossert (Keedysville, MD/Boonsboro HS/Hagerstown CC), junior midfielder Dana Kaufman (Hammonton, NJ/Oakcrest HS), freshman defender Brandie DeWitt (Hagerstown, MD/South Hagerstown HS), junior forward Lauren Cepko (Ellicott City, MD/Howard HS), senior midfielder Tara Roberts (Knoxville, MD), and junior defender Katie Moore (Shenandoah Junction, WV/Jefferson HS) all tallied goals for the Rams. Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) recorded three saves and posted her third shutout of the year for the Rams. Becky Kostovny had 10 saves in goal for the Celtics. Shepherd improves to 4-6-1 on the year, while Carlow falls to 0-9-0. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a key conference matchup at 4:00 p.m. Notes: The Rams have recorded three consecutive shutout victories for the first time in program history.
