SHEPHERD BLANKS CARLOW FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University used a balanced attack en route to a 7-0 win over Carlow University in women's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Sunday.

Freshman forward Jennifer Corkran (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point HS) scored a goal and assisted another, while sophomore midfielder Brittany Sweeney (Rockville, MD/Magruder HS) had a pair of assists to lead the Rams.

Senior forward Ashley Gossert (Keedysville, MD/Boonsboro HS/Hagerstown CC), junior midfielder Dana Kaufman (Hammonton, NJ/Oakcrest HS), freshman defender Brandie DeWitt (Hagerstown, MD/South Hagerstown HS), junior forward Lauren Cepko (Ellicott City, MD/Howard HS), senior midfielder Tara Roberts (Knoxville, MD), and junior defender Katie Moore (Shenandoah Junction, WV/Jefferson HS) all tallied goals for the Rams.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) recorded three saves and posted her third shutout of the year for the Rams. Becky Kostovny had 10 saves in goal for the Celtics.

Shepherd improves to 4-6-1 on the year, while Carlow falls to 0-9-0. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a key conference matchup at 4:00 p.m.

Notes: The Rams have recorded three consecutive shutout victories for the first time in program history. The three shutout wins are two shy of the Ram single season mark of five set in 2004.
