SHEPHERD BATTLES TO 1-1 TIE WITH BRIDGEWATER

BRIDGEWATER, Va. --Shepherd University and Bridgewater College battled to a 1-1 tie in women's soccer action at Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman defender Brandie DeWitt (Hagerstown, MD/ South Hagerstown HS) gave the Rams a 1-0 lead at the 61:30 mark when she scored on an assist from junior forward Jamie Barthelemy (Leesburg, VA/Stone Bridge HS).

Bridgewater tied the game at 1-1 at the 86:03 mark when Kim Forbes scored off a feed from Angel Aversa.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Bell (New Market, MD/Linganore HS) recorded six saves in goal for the Rams. Shelly Urrutia had six saves for Bridgewater.

Shepherd outshot the Eagles, 16-15. The Rams also held a 8-to-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Shepherd moves to 0-3-1 on the year, while Bridgewater is now 1-0-2. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Southern Virginia for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
