SHEPHERD KICKS PAST BRIDGEWATER, 3-1

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- Shepherd University rallied past Bridgewater College for a 3-1 victory in women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead into the break when Ashley Virts scored an unassisted tally at the 44:00 mark.

Shepherd tied the game at 1-1 at the 46:00 mark when junior defender Cassie Burns (Scarbro, WV/Oak Hill HS) netted an unassisted goal.

Senior forward Erin Wilkinson (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson HS) gave the Rams a 2-1 lead at the 70:00 mark on a feed from junior midfielder Sarah Bryan (Sterling, VA/Park View HS). Shepherd added an insurance goal at the 85:00 mark when junior forward Ashley Gossert (Keedysville, MD/Hagerstown CC) scored on an assist from Brittany Sweeney (Rockville, MD/Magruder HS).

Shepherd improves to 1-1 on the season. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Southern Virginia for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
