SHEPHERD EDGES BLUEFIELD

BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Shepherd University edged Bluefield College, 2-1, in women's soccer action at Bluefield on Saturday.

Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 14:00 mark on a goal by junior forward Ashley Gossert (Keedysville, MD/ Hagerstown CC) on an assist from sophomore forward Jamie Barthelemy (Leesburg, VA/Stone Bridge HS).

Bluefield tied the game at 1-1 when Sarah Perry scored an unassisted goal at the 17:00 mark.

Freshman defender/midfielder Lauren Kinnear (Bel Air, MD/Fallston HS) scorer the game-winner on a feed from sophomore midfielder Tara Roberts (Knoxville, MD) at the 74:00 mark.

Freshman Amy Bell (Frederick, MD/Linganore HS) recorded three saves in goal for the Rams.

Shepherd improves to 8-7 on the season. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Wilmington (DE) for a 3:00 contest.
