(WEST LIBERTY, WV) -- Senior quarterback Joel Gordon (Waynesboro, VA/Waynesboro) teamed with sophomore wide receiver Jamal Gardner (Robert E. Lee/Staunton, VA) on a 10-yard scoring play with 23 seconds remaining in the game to lift Shepherd College to a 26-23 win over West Liberty at Russek Field.
Gordon completed 16-of-26 passes for 167 yards.
Gardner led the Ram receiving corps with nine receptions for 89 yards. Ron Dawkins (Washington & Lee/Arlington, VA) added four catches for 36 yards.
Alex Herbert (Monrovia, MD/Urbana) rushed 24 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Michael Walker (Lorton, VA/Hayfield) rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.The Shepherd defense was led by Demar Atwood (Frederick, MD/Thomas Johnson) with 14 tackles. Robert Jarvis (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) and Luke Benchoff (Williamsport/Williamsport, MD) each added eight stops.
