The Rams extended their lead to 10-0 when junior kicker Kevin Burkey (Urbana/Ijamsville, MD) connected on a 36 yard field goal with 7:14 left in the first stanza. Dirting's touchdown catch moved him into a tie with Kelvin Stevens (22, 1993-97) for first place on the Ram career touchdown reception list. He is now the school's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown catches.

The Hilltoppers cut the lead to 17-7 when Ryan Russell ran three yards for a score with 11:52 left in the first half.

The only scoring the second half came courtesy of Shepherd sophomore defensive back Matt Meadows (Hampshire/Romney, WV).

Meadows intercepted a Tim Hicks pass and returned it 39 yards for a score with 13:57 left in the third quarter. He also blocked a J.C Kimes punt and picked it up and weaved his way for a 32-yard touchdown return with 5:17 left in the third quarter. Meadows was selected as the Civitan Bowl Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

Gordon completed 12-of-26 passes for 124 yards for the day.
