SHEPHERD WOMEN RUN PAST WESLEYAN, 82-65
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Freshman guard Krissy Grosselin (Dayton, OH/Ramstein (Germany) HS) scored a team-high 17 points to lead Shepherd University to an 82-65 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in WVIAC women's basketball action on Saturday at Shepherd. The Rams complete regular season play at 15-12, 11-7 in conference action, while Wesleyan drops to 10-17, 9-9.
Joining Grosselin in double figures for the Rams were sophomore guard Molly Land (Hope, IN/Hauser HS) (14 points), senior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) (13), junior center Danielle Costello (Middletown, MD/Middletown HS/Frederick CC) (10) and sophomore guard Nylia Zamora (Miami, FL/Barbara Goldman HS) (10).
Sophomore guard Rebecca Frece (Springfield, VA/ Annandale HS) dished out a game and career-high eight assists. Sophomore forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/ Spring Grove HS) added five blocked shots and tied senior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) and Costello for team-high rebounding honors with six apiece.
Sarah Van Horn scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Lady Bobcats. Sarah Grab added 14 points.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Bluefield State College at 7:30 p.m. in first round action of the WVIAC Tournament.
