BUCKHANNON, W. Va. -- Katie Davis scored a game-high 17 points to lead West Virginia Wesleyan to a 73-71 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC women's basketball action on Saturday at Wesleyan.
Jessie Roeth added 15 points for West Virginia Wesleyan (17-9, 14-4). Frances Carvajal had 13 and Andrea Gianni tossed in 12. Carvajal and Kristen Wells each grabbed a team-high seven boards.
Shepherd (12-15, 9-9) was led by Brianne Hamilton (St. Maria Goretti/Martinsburg, WV) with 16 points. Cassie Murray (Allegany/Cumberland, MD) added 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Ashana Cowans (Robinson/ Fairfax, VA) was also in double figures with 11 points. Danielle Murray (Martinsburg/Martinsburg, WV) chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.
Shepherd will host WVU-Tech in Monday's first round action of the WVIAC Tournament. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
