WESLEYAN EDGES SHEPHERD WOMEN, 74-73

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - Lucia Darling drained a jumper with seven seconds left in regulation to lift West Virginia Wesleyan to a 74-73 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's basketball action on Monday night at Wesleyan.

Sarah Grab scored a game-high 23 points to lead West Virginia Wesleyan (8-15, 7-7 WVIAC). Sarah Van Horn scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Julie Bell added 10 points.

Senior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) led the Rams with 13 points, while freshman guard Krissy Grosselin (Dayton, OH/Ramstein (Germany) HS) and sophomore forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) each poured in 12. Shepherd (13-10, 9-6) got four points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and four steals from sophomore guard Rebecca Frece (Springfield, VA/Annandale HS). Senior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) contributed eight points and nine rebounds.

Shepherd held a 39-34 lead at halftime. The Rams held a 46-to-34 rebounding advantage for the game, but the Bobcats forced 22 turnovers en route to the victory.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Glenville State for a 5:15 p.m. contest.
