RAMS UPSET WV WESLEYAN

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. -- Cassie Murray (Allegany/ Cumberland, MD) and Ashana Cowans (Robinson/ Fairfax, VA) each scored 19 points to lead Shepherd College to a 73-51 upset win over West Virginia Wesleyan in WVIAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Athletic Center on Wednesday night.

Murray also added eight rebounds, five assists and five steals for Shepherd (11-13, 8-7). Lindsay Stewart (Hampshire/Romney, WV) added 13 points, while Brianne Hamilton (St. Maria Goretti/Martinsburg, WV) had a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with five points.

West Virginia Wesleyan (14-8, 11-3) was led by Frances Carvajal with 18 points. Jessie Roeth (11 points) and Katie Davis (10) were also in double figures for the Bobcats.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Glenville for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
