SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Frances Carvajal scored 16 points to lead West Virginia Wesleyan to a 68-63 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC women's basketball action on Saturday at the Butcher Athletic Center.

Jessie Roeth scored 15 points and Katie Davis had 12 to help the Bobcats to the upset win.

Jennifer Westervelt (John Carroll/ Bel Air, MD) led Shepherd with 17 points and seven rebounds. Cassie Murray (Allegany/Cumberland, MD) added 16 points, while Ashley van Norden (Williamsport/Hagerstown, MD) (11 points) and Makia Staves (Bishop McNamara/Ft. Washington, MD) (10) were also in double figures. Gail Siemer (Chesapeake/Severna Park, MD) tied Wesleyan's Heather Kauffman for game-high rebounding honors with eight boards. Siemer also added eight points.

Shepherd falls to 18-8, 13-5 in conference action, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 12-13, 12-6. The Rams return to action when they host Bluefield State in first round action of the WVIAC Tournament on Monday night at the Butcher Athletic Center. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students with a valid ID or children from 6-to-12 years old with a paying adult. Children under six are admitted free with a paying adult.
