SHEPHERD FALLS TO TECH
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Taria Jordan scored a game-high 26 points to lead WVU Tech to a 62-53 over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Athletic Center on Thursday night.
Jordan was 10-of-18 from the floor and hit all 10 free throw attempts. LaShone Caldwell added 12 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, while Alison Carney had 10 points.
Junior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) led the Rams with 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Freshman guard Tiffany Acker (Mount Solon, VA/Buffalo Gap HS) added nine points, while senior guard Anna Lashway (Guilford, VT/Brattleboro Union HS) had seven points and nine boards. Freshman forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) grabbed seven rebounds and tied a school single-game record with seven blocked shots.
Shepherd held a 33-27 lead at the half, but cold shooting plagued the Rams in the second half. Shepherd hit on only 22 percent (7-32) of its second half shots.
Shepherd falls to 5-9 overall, 4-3 in conference action, while WVU Tech improves to 3-10, 2-3. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host University of Charleston for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
