WEST LIBERTY EDGES SHEPHERD
WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- Renee Farina scored a game-high 26 points to lead West Liberty to a 79-76 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's basketball action at West Liberty on Monday night.
Farina posted her game-high effort behind an 8-of-11 performance from three-point range.
Leighann Fry added 12 points, while Lena Kalvans had 11 points and nine assists for the Lady Toppers. Lisa Perry grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
Sophomore guard Tiffany Acker (Mount Solon, VA/Buffalo Gap HS) paced the Rams with a career-high 20 points. Acker hit on 9-of-17 shots from the floor, including a 2-for-4 effort from beyond the arc.
Sophomore forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) added a fine all-around effort with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal. Senior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/ Tabb HS) poured in 12 points and sophomore guard Nylia Zamora (Miami, FL/Barbara Goldman HS) had 10 points and six boards.
The Rams fall to 5-6, 1-2 in conference action, while West Liberty improves to 8-1, 2-0. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Salem International for a 8:00 p.m. contest.
