SHEPHERD FALLS TO WEST LIBERTY

WEST LIBERTY, WV -- Ashlea Bland scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead West Liberty to a 57-39 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC women's basketball action at West Liberty on Monday night.

West Liberty held a slight 31-29 advantage at intermission. The Rams, who outrebounded West Liberty, 53-35, shot a dismal 8.6 percent (3-35) from the floor in the second half and finished the contest with a 21.8 field goal percentage.

Cassie Murray (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) led the Rams with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) added eight points, while Latoya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) tied Murray for team-high honors with 11 rebounds. Danielle Murray (Martinsburg, WV/ Martinsburg HS) added six points and six rebounds.

Kelly West added 11 points and a game-high five assists for the Lady Toppers. Stacey Moore chipped in with eight points.

Shepherd falls to 7-6 overall, 3-2 in conference play, while West Liberty improves to 7-1, 2-0. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Salem International for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
