LANDRUM, MURRAY LEAD SHEPHERD PAST WHEELING JESUIT WHEELING, WV -- Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) scored a game-high 18 points and Cassie Murray (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) added 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead Shepherd College to a 69-64 win over Wheeling Jesuit in WVIAC women's basketball action at Wheeling on Saturday. Landrum, coming off a 20-point effort against West Virginia Wesleyan, connected on 8-of-10 shots and also added four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Murray hit on 6-of-8 shots including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. She also contributed three assists, a blocked shot, and a steal. Ashana Cowans (Fairfax, VA/Robinson HS) was also in double figures with 10 points. Sarah Setcavage scored 15 points to lead the Cardinals. Jenna Johnson and Jade Eckleberry added 12 points each. Setcavage and Lauren Hanson tied for team-high rebounding honors with six apiece. Shepherd rallied from a 34-29 halftime deficit. The Rams shot 64 percent (16-25) in the second half en route to their sixth victory in the last seven games. Shepherd improves to 7-5 overall, 3-1 in conference play, while Wheeling Jesuit falls to 5-3, 0-1. The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to face West Liberty for a 5:15 p.m. contest. |
