SHEPHERD FALLS TO WEST CHESTER

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Shepherd College dropped a 74-71 decision to West Chester University in women's basketball action at the West Chester University Alumni Association-Carol Eckman Classic.

Carol Muldoon scored a game-high 17 points to lead West Chester. Kiera Manlove and Kiesha Mack each added 15 points, while Tara Brady had 11.

Ashana Cowans (Robinson/Fairfax, VA) led the Ram with 14 points. Brianne Hamilton (Goretti/Martinsburg, WV) added a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Cassie Murray (Allegany/ Cumberland, MD) had 11 points and nine boards, while Danielle Murray (Martinsburg/Martinsburg, WV) came off the bench to score 10 points in 14 minutes of action.

Trailing 61-49 with just over 10 minutes left in the game, Shepherd went on a 20-10 run to close to within two points at 71-69 on a Danielle Murray basket with 41 seconds remaining. After Manlove hit on 1-of-2 free throws, Cowans scored for Shepherd to cut the lead to 72-71, but Manlove drained a pair of free throws in the final seconds to seal the win.

Shepherd falls to 1-3, while West Chester improves to 2-1. The Rams will face Millersville University on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in final round action of the classic.
