PETERSBURG, Va. -- Sophomore guard Molly Land (Hope, IN/ Hauser HS) scored a career and game-high 23 points to lead Shepherd University to a 75-60 win over Virginia State University in women's basketball action at Virginia State on Thursday night.
Land connected on 7-of-11 shots from the floor, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. She also grabbed seven rebounds and handed out four assists.
Senior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/ Tabb HS) added 17 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Tiffany Acker (Mount Solon, VA/ Buffalo Gap HS) added nine points and dished out a game-high six assists.
Erica Glasper scored 22 points to lead Virginia State. Janiya Bellard added 11 points, while Caromekia Parker hauled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Shepherd evens its mark at 2-2, while Virginia State falls to 0-5. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Davis & Elkins at 2:00 p.m.
