SHEPHERD FALLS TO NO. 25 CHARLESTON

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Lisa Lee scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead 25th-ranked University of Charleston to a 78-54 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Athletic Center on Saturday.

Lee hit on 9-of-14 shots from the floor and also had a game-high three blocked shots.

Laura Kinsler added 19 points for the Golden Eagles with 12 coming from three-point range, while Erica McElroy was also in double figures with 10 points.

Junior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) paced the Rams with nine points, while senior guard Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) and freshman guard Nylia Zamora (Miami, FL/Barbara Goldman HS) each had eight. Freshman guard Andrea Kauffman (Strasburg, VA/Lewistown (PA) HS) came off the bench to score five points and tie junior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) for team-high rebounding honors with five.

Shepherd falls to 5-10 overall, 4-4 in conference action, while Charleston improves to 16-2, 9-0. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Bluefield State for a 5:15 p.m. contest.
