SHEPHERD DOWNS SALEM INTERNATIONAL FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

SALEM, W.Va. -- Junior forward LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) and senior guard Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) scored 17 points each to lead Shepherd University to a 73-61 win over Salem International in WVIAC women's basketball action at Salem on Thursday night.

Kunkel connected on 5-of-11 shots with a 4-for-8 performance from three-point range. Fisher drained 7-of-10 field goal attempts.

Freshman forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) added nine points and hauled down a game-high 10 rebounds, while freshman guard Michelle Van Dyke (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette HS) came off the bench to also score nine points.

Keisha Box scored a game-high 23 points to pace Salem International. Box also grabbed nine boards. Kristen Self added 17 points.

The Rams improve to 4-7 overall, 3-1 in conference action, while Salem International drops to 6-6, 1-3. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Fairmont State for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
