SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE RUNS PAST SHEPHERD

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Babette Noah scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Southern Connecticut State to a 72-48 win over Shepherd University in women's basketball action at Shepherd on Monday night.

Noah scored 11 of her points in the first half as the Owls took a 40-24 lead at the break. Southern Connecticut forced 23 Shepherd turnovers behind a 18-steal team effort led by seven from Kristi Stolle. The Owls only committed 13 turnovers.

Shamika Jackson and Kate Lynch each had 15 points and Anabel Perdomo added 10 for the Owls.

Sophomore guard Nylia Zamora (Miami, FL/Barbara Goldman HS) led the Rams with a career-high 14 points. Zamora hit on 4-of-5 shots from the floor and was 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Sophomore forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) added 10 points and six rebounds, while senior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) had six points and grabbed a team-high seven caroms.

Shepherd falls to 4-4, while Southern Connecticut State improves to 7-2. The Rams are idle until Jan. 2 when they host Virginia State for a 6:00 p.m. game.
