RAMS PULL AWAY FROM OVC FOR 76-59 WIN

VIENNA, W.Va. -- Junior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Shepherd University to a 76-59 win over Ohio Valley College in WVIAC women's basketball action at Ohio Valley on Thursday.

Fisher connected on 7-of-16 shots from the floor and was 4-of-6 from the charity stripe. She also added two assists, two blocked shots, and a steal.

Freshman forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) also recorded a double-double with 14 points and game-high 14 rebounds. Harkins also dished out five assists and blocked four shots. Freshman guard Molly Land (Hope, IN/Hauser HS) came off the bench to record a career-high 14 points -- fueled by a 4-for-5 effort from three-point range. Senior guard Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) was also in double figures with 10 points.

Natasha Holloway led the Lady Scots with 18 points. Candice Gist had 16, while Ashley Dunston added 10 points, six assists, and seven steals.

Leading 31-28 at intermission, Shepherd shot 50 percent (15-30) from the floor in the second half to pull away for the win. Shepherd also held a 47-37 rebounding advantage and limited the Lady Scots to a 31.9 percent (22-69) field goal percentage for the game.

Shepherd improves to 8-11 overall, 7-5 in conference action, while Ohio Valley falls to 5-14, 2-8. The Rams will complete their two-game road trip on Saturday when they travel to Glenville for a 5:15 p.m. contest.
