MARSHALL KNOCKS OFF SHEPHERD

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Ida Dotson scored a game-high 26 points to lead Marshall University to a 74-59 win over Shepherd College in women's basketball action at Marshall on Monday night.

The Thundering Herd shot an incredible 68 percent from the floor in the first half en route to a 45-30 advantage at the break. Sikeetha Shepard-Hall was also in double figures for Marshall with 11 points.

Ashley van Norden (Williamsport/Hagerstown, MD) and Cassie Murray (Allegany/ Cumberland, MD) led the Rams with 11 points each. Murray also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Lindsay Stewart (Hampshire/Romney, WV) added a fine all-around effort with 10 points, five steals, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.

Shepherd falls to 3-6, while Marshall improves to 4-5. The Rams return to action on January 7 when they host West Virginia State for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
