SHEPHERD HANDLES LYNN IN CONSOLATION WIN LOUISVILLE, KY -- Anna Lashway (Guilford, VT/Brattleboro Union HS) scored a game-high 22 points to lead Shepherd College to a 95-49 win over Lynn University in the consolation game of the Bellarmine University Tournament. Lashway connected on 8-of-14 shots, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Shepherd shot 52.2% from the floor, posting a 60% effort in the first half that gave the Rams a 57-25 advantage at the break. Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) continued to have a hot hand with 14 points -- shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Lindsay Stewart (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) added 12 points, while Ashley van Norden (Hagerstown, MD/Williamsport HS) had 11. Cassie Murray (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) tossed in nine points and dished out five assists, while Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) contributed eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Megan Osmer scored 10 points and Cherise George and Erin Brant added nine each to pace Lynn. Lashway and van Norden were both named to the All-Tournament Team. Shepherd improves to 1-2, while Lynn falls to 0-3. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 6:00 p.m. contest. |
