FISHER GARNERS ESPN the MAGAZINE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT II HONORS

EWING, NJ -- Junior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) of the Shepherd University women's basketball team has been named to the 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District College Division II Women's Basketball Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The members of CoSIDA, by districts, vote on the 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District College Division Women's Basketball teams. The five first team selections will now move onto the national ballot for the 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America as selected by CoSIDA honors.

Fisher, a computer information systems major with a 3.73 grade point average, was a third team selection. She currently leads the Rams in scoring with a 10.3 average and is second in rebounding with a 7.1 average.

The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
