IUP DOWNS SHEPHERD IN SEASON OPENER SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Indiana University of Pennsylvania had four players score in double figures as the Indians pulled away for a 65-56 win over Shepherd College in women's basketball action at the Butcher Athletic Center on Saturday night. IUP got double-doubles from Jacqui Martin (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Jordin Schaffner (14 points, 12 rebounds) in the win. Ashana Cowans (Fairfax, Va/Robinson HS) led the Rams with nine points. Ashley van Norden (Hagerstown, MD/Williamsport HS) , LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS), Gaynell Reese (Maple Heights, OH/Bedford HS), and Anna Lashway (Guilford, VT/Brattleboro Union HS) each chipped in eight points. Fisher also grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Katie Glaus added 16 points for the Huskies. Shepherd falls to 0-1, while IUP improves to 1-0. |
