"Glenville is always a strong team," stated Shepherd head coach Jodie Runner. "They were probably the hottest team coming into the tournament. I thought turnovers and free throws were the difference in the game."
Shepherd rallied to within five points at 62-57 with 1:20 remaining on a steal and layup by Harkins. Shepherd later regained possession in the game with 48 seconds left and called timeout. The Shepherd coaches were under the impression they still had a timeout left after conferring with the scorer's table earlier, but the referees ruled otherwise and assessed the Rams a technical foul. The Pioneers converted 7-of-10 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
"I'm very proud of our team," stated Shepherd head coach Jodie Runner. "We are one of the youngest teams in the league and we accomplished our team goals of finishing in the top eight in the conference and making it down to Charleston."
Shepherd completes the season with a 12-16 record.
