SIXTH-RANKED GLENVILLE STATE DOWNS SHEPHERD WOMEN, 78-58
GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Denae Dobbins scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead sixth-ranked Glenville State to a 78-58 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's basketball action on Thursday night at Glenville.
Casey Taylor added 16 points, while Christy Alltop had 15. Also in double figures for Glenville State (23-1, 14-1 WVIAC) were Liz Bowers (13 points) and Rachel Redick (11). Alltop also dished out a game-high eight assists.
Freshman guard Krissy Grosselin (Dayton, OH/Ramstein (Germany) HS) led the Rams with 15 points. Senior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) contributed 11 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Rebecca Frece (Springfield, VA/Annandale HS) had 10 points.
Shepherd (13-11, 9-7) and Glenville were tied at halftime, 31-31. The Lady Pioneers shot a red-hot 64.5 percent (20-31) in the second half to pull away for the win.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
