GLENVILLE DEFEATS SHEPHERD
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Liz Bowers scored a game-high 24 points to lead Glenville State College to an 88-56 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's basketball action at Shepherd on Thursday night.
Bowers was 12-of-12 from the floor as the Pioneers shot a red hot 63.9 percent (39-of-61) from the floor with a 71.4 percent (20-of-28) effort in the second half.
Denae Dobbins added 20 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Rachel Redick added 15 points, while Casey Taylor had 14.
Freshman forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) and junior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) led the Rams with 11 points each. Landrum, senior guard Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) and junior center LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) tied for team-high rebounding honors with five each.
Shepherd falls to 10-13 overall, 9-7 in conference action, while Glenville State improves to 18-6, 12-3. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Pitt-Johnstown at 7:00 p.m. in the regular season home finale.
