SHEPHERD FALLS TO FIFTH-RANKED GLENVILLE

GLENVILLE, WV --Katie Wimer scored a game-high 20 points to lead fifth-ranked Glenville State to an 81-67 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC women's basketball action at Glenville on Thursday night. The win extended Glenville's home winning streak to 60 games.

Rachel Redick added 15 points, Carrie Triplett had 12 points and eight rebounds, while Tracy Wyatt contributed 10 points and a game-high six assists.

Lindsay Stewart (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) led the Rams with 17 points. She also dished out a team-high four assists. Gaynell "Nippy" Reese (Maple Heights, OH/Bedford HS) had 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Cassie Murray (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) had 11 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Shepherd had a 37-30 rebounding edge over the Pioneers, but the game was decided at the free throw line. Glenville sank 25-of-33 free throws, while the Rams hit on 8-of-9.

Shepherd drops to 16-10, 11-6 in conference play, while Glenville State improves to 22-2, 15-0. The Rams return to action next Thursday when they host Alderson-Broaddus in the regular-season finale at 6:00 p.m.
