SHEPHERD FALLS TO GLENVILLE

GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Glenville State had three starters in double figures led by Elise Pettinger's 14 points in a 72-57 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC women's basketball action at Lilly Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers took a 38-26 lead at halftime behind a 52 percent (13-25) shooting effort. They also limited Shepherd to a 30 percent (9-30) effort. The win extends Glenville's home court winning streak to 50 games. It is the longest current home win streak in NCAA Division II.

Carrie Triplett added 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Tracy Wyatt added 12 points and a game-high seven assists for Glenville (18-2, 10-1).

Cassie Murray (Allegany/ Cumberland, MD) scored a game-high 20 points to lead Shepherd (9-12, 6-7). Murray, who had her second consecutive game of 20 points or more, also had seven rebounds. Lena Moore (Newport School (North Carolina A&T/Washington, DC) came off the bench to pour in 11 points and grab a team-high eight rebounds, while Ashana Cowans (Robinson/Fairfax, VA) added 10 points.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to UDC for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
