RAMS RALLY PAST DAVIS AND ELKINS
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. --Freshman forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Shepherd University to a 70-66 win over Davis & Elkins in WVIAC women's basketball action at Shepherd on Saturday afternoon.
Shepherd shot 61.5 percent (16-26) from the floor in the second half to erase a 28-24 halftime deficit. Harkins scored 13 of her team-high 15 points in the second stanza. Harkins also blocked four shots, dished out two assists, and recorded a pair of steals.
Senior guard Anna Lashway (Guilford, VT/Brattleboro Union HS) added 13 points, while junior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA /Tabb HS) had nine. The Rams also strong support from their bench. Senior guard Lindsay Stewart (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) added a season-high eight points. Sophomore center Danielle Costello (Middletown, MD/MiddletownHS/Frederick CC) had seven points and five boards in nine minutes and sophomore center Carolyn Malachi (Upper Marlboro, MD/Elizabeth Seton HS) had six points in six minutes.
Courtney Pawlak scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Senators. Whitney Parsons added 17, while Grace Cyphert had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Shepherd improves to 9-12 overall, 8-6 in conference action, while Davis & Elkins falls to 8-14, 2-12. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
