ELKINS, W.Va. -- Brianne Hamilton (St. Maria Goretti/Martinsburg, WV) scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Shepherd College to a 67-49 win over Davis & Elkins in WVIAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton connected on 6-of-8 shots from the floor and was 5-of-11 from the charity stripe. Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg/Gettysburg, MD) added 12 points with nine coming from three-point range, while Cassie Murray (Allegany/Cumberland, MD) was also in double figures with 10 points.
Shepherd displayed another outstanding defensive performance in the victory. The Ram defense forced 28 turnovers and held their opponent to 50 points or less for the ninth time this year.
Morgan Johnson led the Senators with nine points.
The Rams improve to 17-5, 12-2 in conference action, while Davis & Elkins falls to 8-12, 5-8. The Rams remain on the road to face West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
