RAMS FALL TO CONCORD
ATHENS, W.Va. -- Samm Nester scored a game-high 16 points to lead Concord to a 70-60 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's basketball action at Concord on Saturday.
Three other Mountain Lions hit for double figures as Shari Walker added 15 points, while Jessica Ferguson and Becca Flanagan each had 13. Ferguson also recorded six boards and game-high six steals. Savanna Wynn grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Junior forward Casey Landrum (Yorktown, VA/Tabb HS) led the Rams with 15 points on a 7-of-10 shooting effort from the floor. Freshman forward Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) added 12 points and tied Concord's Wynn for game-high rebounding honors with seven boards. Freshman guard Tiffany Acker (Mount Solon, VA/Buffalo Gap HS) added eight points and freshman guard Nylia Zamora (Miami, FL/Barbara Goldman HS) added six points and four steals.
Shepherd drops to 6-11 overall, 5-5 in conference action, while Concord improves to 11-7, 4-5. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia State for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
