KUNKEL NAMED BB&T SENIOR SCHOLAR-ATHLETE

PRINCETON, W.Va. -- Senior guard Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) of the Shepherd University women's basketball team has been named a 2004-05 BB&T Senior Scholar-Athlete award recipient by the West Virginia Conference. Each member institution honors a male and female athlete that has demonstrated proficiency in the classroom and as well as in competition. All award winners must compile at least a 3.3 grade point average.

The award is sponsored by BB&T. BB&T owns the largest market share of any West Virginia bank and operates over 1400 branches across the Mid-Atlantic and South.

Kunkel carries a 3.40 grade point average as a sports management major. No male athlete was selected.
