CONCORD DOWNS SHEPHERD IN OVERTIME SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- Concord had six players in double figures en route to a 77-71 overtime win over Shepherd College in WVIAC women's basketball action at Shepherd on Saturday. Cassie Murray (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) hit a jumper for Shepherd with 17 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 67-67, and send it into overtime. Savanna Wynn hit a jumper with 2:07 left in overtime to give the Lady Lions a 71-69 advantage. Lauren Koenig drained a three-pointer on an assist from Wynn at the 1:32 mark to seal the win for Concord. Murray scored all her game-high 16 points in the second half. LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) tied Murray for game-high honors with and also added nine rebounds. Danielle Murray (Martinsburg, WV/Martinsburg HS) added seven points and team-high 10 rebounds. Concord was led by Jessica Ferguson's 14 points. Also in double figures for the Lady Lions were Jessica Walls (13 points), Jamie Cluesman (13), Lauren Koenig (11), Savanna Wynn (11), and Renee Gagnier (10). Wynn also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Shepherd falls to 12-8, 8-4 in conference play, while Concord improves to 8-9, 5-3. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Ohio Valley for a 6:00 p.m. conference matchup. Notes:Cassie Murray moved past Wendy Ramsey (1,320 points) into third place on the SC all-time scoring list. Murray currently has 1,335 career points. |
