SHEPHERD ROUTS BLUEFIELD STATE

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - Cassie Murray (Allegany/Cumberland, MD) scored a game-high 14 points to lead Shepherd College to a 68-34 win over Bluefield State in WVIAC women's basketball action at Bluefield on Thursday night.

Murray connected on 7-of-11 shots for the Rams (8-10, 5-5). Brianne Hamilton (St. Maria Goretti/Martinsburg, WV) added a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Murray and Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg/Gettysburg, PA) each added six rebounds, while Lindsay Stewart (Hampshire/Romney, WV) dished out a game-high five assists.

Shepherd held a 48-25 rebounding advantage in the game. The Rams also limited the Lady Blues to a 26 percent (13-50) shooting effort, while posting a 48 percent (28-58) mark en route to an easy victory.

Bluefield State (2-14, 0-7) was led by Brandi Coleman with eight points.

The Rams complete their two-game road trip on Saturday with a 5:15 p.m. contest at Concord.
