SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd College had five players score in double figures en route to a 102-75 win over Bluefield State in first round WVIAC Tournament women's basketball action on Monday night at the Butcher Athletic Center.

Ashana Cowans (Robinson/Fairfax, VA) led the Rams with 17 points on a 6-of-10 shooting performance. Also in double figures for the Rams were Jennifer Westervelt (John Carroll/ Bel Air, MD) (15 points), Ashley van Norden (Williamsport/Hagerstown, MD) (13), and Gaynell Reese (Bedford/Maple Heights, OH) (12). Cassie Murray (Allegany/Cumberland, MD) added a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Cassie Miller scored a game-high 31 points to lead Bluefield State. She connected on 8-of18 shots, including 6-of-12 from three-point range.

Shepherd improves to 19-8, while Bluefield State completes its season with a 6-21 mark. The Rams will face Concord College quarterfinal action of the WVIAC Tournament on Wednesday at the Charleston Civic Center. Tipoff is 3:00 p.m.
