SHEPHERD GOES TO 2-1 WITH WIN OVER BOWIE STATE

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. -- Shepherd College moved to 2-1 on the year with a 65-43 win over Bowie State in women's basketball action at the Butcher Athletic Center.

Makia Staves (Bishop McNamara/Ft. Washington, MD) led Shepherd with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Cassie Murray (Allegany/Cumberland, MD) also added 11 points, while Jennifer Westervelt (John Carroll/Bel Air, MD) had nine points and 10 rebounds. Carrie Kunkel (Gettysburg/Gettysburg, PA) tossed in nine points with a 3-for-4 shooting effort from three-point range.

Keisha Todd had 10 points to lead Bowie State (2-4). Mona-Gail Baker added eight points and seven rebounds.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Davis & Elkins for a 2:00 p.m. contest in the conference opener.
