BELLARMINE EDGES SHEPHERD

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- Shepherd University dropped a 87-81 decision to Bellarmine University in women's basketball action at the Cruzin Classic at Palm Beach Atlantic University on Wednesday night.

Ashley Lewallen scored a game-high 18 points to pace Bellarmine. Kellie Payton added 16 points, Angela Smith had 15, Lynne Johnson had 13, and Ashley Elmore contributed 12.

Anna Lashway (Guilford, VT/Brattleboro Union HS) led the Rams with 16 points -- fueled by a 4-for-7 effort from three-point range. LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) added 15 points and game-highs of 11 rebounds and three blocked shots. Laura Harkins (York, PA/Spring Grove HS) had 14 points, while Tiffany Acker (Mount Solon, VA/ Buffalo Gap HS) came off the bench to add 11.

Shepherd falls to 1-5, while Bellarmine improves to 7-1. The Rams will face Tusculum on Saturday at noon in their final contest of the classic.
