SHEPHERD HANDLES ALDERSON-BROADDUS SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- Cassie Murray (Cumberland, MD/Allegany HS) scored a game-high 20 points to lead Shepherd College to a 71-39 win over Alderson-Broaddus in WVIAC women's basketball action on Thursday night at Shepherd. Murray hit on 9-of-15 shots and added nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Her five swipes give her 215 career steals to set a new Shepherd career record. She breaks the old mark of 214 set by SC Hall of Famer Sherry Price (1982-86). Gaynell "Nippy" Reese (Maple Heights, OH/Bedford HS) added 14 points and LaToya Fisher (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) had 11 points and 12 rebounds. Ashana Cowans (Fairfax, VA/Robinson HS) was also in double figures with 10 points, while Ashley van Norden (Hagerstown, MD/ Williamsport HS) had eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Mallory Grogg scored 10 points to lead Alderson-Broaddus. Desire'e Evans added eight points, while Lisa Davis had seven. Shepherd improves to 17-10, 12-6 in conference play, while Alderson-Broaddus falls to 1-22, 1-16. |
