A-B UPSETS SHEPHERD

PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Joni Grubb scored a game-high 14 points to lead Alderson-Broaddus to a 63-60 upset win over Shepherd College in WVIAC women's basketball action on Thursday night.

Grubb also had seven rebounds and five assists. Paige Smith added 13 points for the Battlers, while Lisa Davis was also in double figures with 11 points.

Shepherd held a 53-31 rebound advantage, but shot only 32 percent from the floor. The Battlers had a 42 percent shooting percentage, including a 46 percent effort in the second half.

Brianne Hamilton (St. Maria Goretti/Martinsburg, WV) led Shepherd with 13 points on a 6-of-10 shooting effort. She also added 13 rebounds. Makia Staves (Bishop McNamara/Ft. Washington, MD) scored 11 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, while Ashana Cowans (Robinson/Fairfax, VA) added 11 points.

Shepherd falls to 18-7, 13-4 in conference action, while Alderson-Broaddus improves to 6-19, 5-12. The Rams return to action when they host West Virginia Wesleyan in the regular season finale on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
