SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Several members of the Shepherd College volleyball team were recently honored by the West Virginia Conference.
Senior outside hitter Kim Pirisino (John Carroll/Edgewood, MD) earned first team All-Conference honors, senior outside hitter Judy Whims (Thomas Johnson (FCC)/Frederick, MD) was named a second team selection, while sophomore setter Nicole Morgan (North Hagerstown/Maugansville, MD) was an honorable mention selection. Freshman outside hitter Danielle Munson (Williamsport/Williamsport, MD) was name to the All-Freshman team.
Pirisino, also a WVIAC All-Tournament selection, gained All-Conference honors for the fourth time in her career. She led the Rams with a .381 hitting percentage. Pirisino also topped the team with a 3.66 digs/game average. She added a team best 1.17 blocks per game, 114 assists, and 64 aces. Pirsino was also a three-time WVIAC Player of the Week honoree.
Whims, also a WVIAC All-Tournament choice, led the Ram with a 3.83 kills per game average. She also led the team in total digs (3.64 per game average). She also added 67 aces, 58 blocks, and 29 assists.
Morgan led the Rams in assists with a 12.11 per game mark. She also topped the team in aces with 76 for an 0.55 per game average. Morgan also added 275 digs, 74 kills, and 22 blocks.
Munson registered 409 kills for a 3.12 per game average. She also added 406 digs (3.10 per game average), 84 blocks, 72 aces, and 20 assists.
Shepherd finished the season with a 29-10 record, with a 10-3 mark in conference play. The Rams lost to eventual champion Wheeling Jesuit in the semifinal round of the WVIAC Tournament.
