SHEPHERD WINS TWO IN RAM RUMBLE TOURNAMENT

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd College volleyball team won two matches in the 5th Annual Ram Rumble Tournament on Saturday with triumphs over West Virginia State (3-0) and Virginia Union (3-0). The Rams dropped a 3-2 decision to West Chester to go 2-1 on the day.

The Rams took a 30-10, 30-14, 30-20 victory over State. Judy Whims (Thomas Johnson (FCC)/Frederick, MD) registered 11 kills and Danielle Munson (Williamsport/Willianmsport, MD) added 10. Kim Pirisino (John Carroll/Edgewood, MD) added nine digs and four aces.

Whims had 13 kills and 10 digs to pace the Rams in a 30-22, 30-15, 30-12 victory over Virginia Union. Pirisino and Amber Balmer (Ephrata/Ephrata, PA) each added nine kills.

Balmer recorded 21 digs and 14 kills in a 30-25, 28-30, 25-30, 30-22, 13-15 loss to West Chester. Whims added 14 kills and 18 digs, while Pirisino had 13 kills and 18 digs.

Shepherd will face Nebraska-Kearney, ranked 14th nationally, at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. The Rams will complete play in the tourney with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Lynn University.
