SHEPHERD VOLLEYBALL GOES 1-1 AT MERCYHURST TOURNAMENT ERIE, Pa. -- The Shepherd University volleyball team split a pair of matches in final day action of the Mercyhurst University Tournament on Saturday. The Rams dropped a 30-28, 30-16, 30-23 decision to Gannon, but handed Bowie State a 30-23, 30-24, 30-22 setback. Junior outside hitter Susanna Hill (Clear Spring, MD/Grace Academy) had eight kills, 13 digs, and three blocks to lead the Rams against Gannon. Junior defensive specialist Lindsey Smith (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) added a team-high 15 digs, while freshman middle blocker/outside hitter Kori Ford (Fredericksburg, VA/Chancellor HS) had seven kills, three aces, and two blocks. Sophomore setter Kristy Cramer (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg Area Senior HS) added 25 assists. Junior middle hitter Lauren Durbin (Fairplay, MD/Grace Academy) recorded a team-best 10 kills and Ford had nine kills and six digs to lead the Rams over Bowie State. Hill and Smith each added 10 digs, while Cramer contributed 31 assists and three aces. The Rams (2-6) return to action next Friday when they travel to Charleston for the University of Charleston Tournament. |
