SHEPHERD VOLLEYBALL GOES 1-1 AT IUP TOURNAMENT

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University volleyball team split first day action at the Indiana (PA) Tournament on Friday to open the season. The Rams downed Gannon, 22-30, 30-19, 30-24, 32-30, before dropping a 17-30, 19-30, 26-30 decision to Pace.

Sophomore Kristy Cramer (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg Area Senior) had 24 assists, junior Taylor Darnley (Yorktown, VA/Grafton) recorded 16 kills, while junior Susanna Hill (Clear Spring, MD/Grace Academy) added 10 digs to pace the Rams against Gannon.

Darnley recorded nine kills and six digs to lead the Rams against Pace. Cramer added 14 assists.

"I was happy with the way the girls came out top start the season," noted first-year head coach Sarah Smith. "We had a mild letdown against Pace and came back with too little, too late. However, I was pleased with our overall effort and I am excited about the remainder of the tournament."

The Rams (1-1) return to action on Saturday in final day tournament action.
