FAIRMONT EDGES SHEPHERD IN VOLLEYBALL

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University fell to Fairmont State in five games in WVIAC volleyball action at the Butcher Athletic Center on Monday night. The Rams dropped a 30-22, 33-31, 20-30, 25-30, 13-15 decision.

Junior outside hitter Susanna Hill (Clear Spring, MD/Grace Academy) and junior defensive specialist Lindsey Smith (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) each had 16 digs for the Rams. Senior outside hitter Beth Schaible (Winchester, VA/James Wood HS) and junior outside hitter Taylor Darnley (Yorktown, VA/Grafton HS) each had a team-high 14 kills. Darnley also had three aces. Sophomore setter Kristy Cramer (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg Area Senior HS) added a career-high 61 assists.

Shepherd falls to 12-17 overall, 9-7 in WVIAC action, while Fairmont State improves to 16-18, 12-4. The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 7:00 p.m. match.
