SHEPHERD SWEEPS CONCORD, BLUEFIELD STATE

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University volleyball team swept a pair of conference matches in WVIAC volleyball action at the Butcher Athletic Center on Saturday. The Rams downed Concord, 30-16, 30-26, 30-16, and handed Bluefield State a 30-16, 30-15, 30-16 setback.

Senior Beth Schaible (Winchester, VA/James Wood) had seven kills in 14 attempts for a.500 attack percentage to pace the Rams against Concord. Juniors Laura Durbin (Fairplay, MD/Grace Academy) and Taylor Darnley (Yorktown, VA/Grafton) each added seven kills. Durbin also added four blocks. Junior Lindsey Smith (Romney, WV/Hampshire) recorded 13 digs, while sophomore Kristy Cramer (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg Area Senior) had 32 assists.

Freshman Kori Ford (Fredericksburg, VA/Chancellor HS) registered 13 kills with only one error in 20 attempts in the win over Bluefield State. Durbin and Darnley added nine kills each. Cramer posted 33 assists and six aces.

The Rams (4-11, 2-1) return to action next Saturday when they host West Liberty at 11:00 a.m. and Wheeling Jesuit at 1:00 p.m.
