(MONTGOMERY, WV) -- Senior running back Alex Herbert (Monrovia, MD/Urbana HS) rushed 16 times for 109 yards and four touchdowns to lead Shepherd University to a 58-7 win over WVU Tech in WVIAC football action at Martin Field. The Rams finish the season with a 7-0 mark in conference action to win their eighth WVIAC title under head coach Monte Cater.

Herbert's four touchdowns tie the Shepherd single game record. He also reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the year. Herbert completes the year with 1,052 rushing yards.

Senior quarterback Leonard Ferguson (Baltimore, MD/Dunbar HS) completed 6-of-12 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore Dan Chlebowski (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim HS) connected on 6-of-10 passes for 52 yards.

Senior wide receiver Chad Pence (Harrisonburg, VA/Turner Ashby HS) led the Ram receivers with six catches for 76 yards. Senior wide receiver Jesse Correll (Port Republic, MD/Calvert HS) added three catches for 37 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown reception. Correll also blocked a Golden Bear punt that was recovered in the end zone for a score by sophomore Anthony Thomas (Keysville, VA/Randolph Henry HS).

Senior defensive end Ramal Faunteroy (Washington, DC/Parkdale HS) led the Ram defense with nine tackles. Sophomore linebacker Todd Edmondson (Finksburg, MD/Westminster HS) (18-yarder for a score) and senior defensive back Fredy Del Villar (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley HS) (18-yarder) each had interceptions.

Shepherd completes regular season play with a 7-3 overall mark, with a 7-0 record in WVIAC action. WVU Tech falls to 2-9, 2-5.
